Voodoo Child - John Czop Brings the Comics to Life on the Lower East Side
NEW YORK, NY. art.les.nyc studios is proud to present Voodoo Child, a world premiere by featured comic book artist John Czop, with an opening night reception on Friday, June 27th, 2008 at 7 p.m at 202 Rivington Street (between Ridge and Pitt Streets). The first show of its kind, Czop's experiment will translate a piece from his own comic book series, The Dove Agency, into three large-scale murals in the lower-level gallery of our outdoor studio.
Voodoo Child tells the story of an infamous voodoo queen deep in the Louisiana Bayou. Using acrylics, airbrush and spray paint, Czop brings to life a ritual scene in which devout voodoo worshippers pray to their gods, indulging in exotic orgiastic fantasies. Czop describes the upcoming show as offering "irresistible enticement for frustrated scholars and curious thrill-seekers alike."
